Roscoe Ammann

Roscoe E. Ammann, age 74 of Highland, IL, died Monday, August 5, 2024, at his residence in Highland, IL.

He was born on Friday, Dec. 9, 1949, in Highland, IL, the son of Erwin and Adaline (nee Landert) Ammann.

On Friday, Feb. 27, 1976, he married Julia Marie Weidner at St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL, who survives.

He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Highland Chapter #1580; Highland Moose Lodge; Greater Carlyle Bowling Hall of Fame Board (retired); American Pharmacist Association; Highland Country Club, Board of Directors (retired).

Roscoe was born in Highland, IL and had lived in Highland, St. Jacob and Sandoval, IL. He was a 1968 graduate at Highland High School. He continued his education at St. Louis College of Pharmacy. As a youth, he had worked at Kayser Drug Store at the soda fountain, also at Essenpreis Plumbing and Hi Top Bowl . While in Pharmacy School, Roscoe worked at Family Pharmacy in Highland and then began his career at TUMS in St. Louis, MO. He was a Research Pharmacist and Manufacturing Floor Manager until he retired. In his retirement he had worked for Family Care Pharmacy in Highland and Prescriptions Plus Pharmacy in New Baden. He was an avid Golfer, he had multiple holes-in-one, and as a bowler, he had multiple 300 games. Roscoe liked to collect TUMS memorabilia, Coca Cola items and collectible dinner plates from each state. He was an avid Cardinals Baseball fan. He shared his love of sports with his children and grandchildren and did not miss any of the grandchildrens’ sporting events. He was an inductee into the Greater Carlyle Bowling Hall of Fame.

  • Grandchild – Brenden Matthew Gelly
  • Grandchild – Blake Aaron Gelly
  • Grandchild – Boston Roscoe Ammann
  • Sister-In-Law – Alice “Cookie” Ammann, Marion, IL
  • Brother-In-Law – Eric (Rebecca) Weidner, Tecumseh, MI
  • Sister-In-Law – Pat L. (Kim) White, Highland, IL

He was preceded in death by:

Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.

Visitation will be held from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Monday, August 12, 2024, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 12, 2024, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL, with Rev. Father Pat G. Jakel, pastor, St. Paul Catholic Church, officiating.

Interment will be at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland, IL.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mooseheart, Highland Area Christian Service Ministry, or Relevant Pregnancy Care Center.
