Josephine Johnisee

Josephine H. Johnisee, 104, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at Meridian Village in Glen Carbon at 8:25 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2024. She was born August 2, 1920, in Venice, Illinois, a daughter of the late Tony and Carrie “Alice” (Sietta) Shambro. She married Eddie E. Johnisee on May 24, 1941, in Maplewood, Missouri and he passed away on October 17, 1985. Josephine was a faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church, loved taking care of her home and cherished the special times shared with her family. She is survived by a son, Edward Charles Johnisee of Granite City; son-in-law, Morris Chapman of Granite City; grandchildren and spouses, Adam and Megan Johnisee, Elizabeth “Lucy” Johnisee, Ryan Campbell, Shawn Almos and Jeffrey Almos; great grandchildren, William and Michael; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends. In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Chapman; daughter-in-law, Christina Johnisee and four sisters, Rose, Anna May, Marie and Margaret.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, from 10 a.m. until time of a funeral service at 12 p.m. noon with Father Steve Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.
