Li H. Anderson, 75, of Belleville, Illinois died Sunday, August 11, 2024 at her home after a short battle with ALS. She was with her husband of 50 years, Wayne “Andy” Anderson, and daughter Tracy Crawford.
She was born October 5, 1948 in Taipei, Taiwan to Po Lung Chen and Hsaio Chen. She married Andy on October 27, 1973 in Taiwan after dating for a year. She and Andy had their daughter, Tracy, at Clark Air Force base in the Philippines on April 13, 1975.
Li accepted Christ as her savior after seven years of faithful ministry by Andy and prayer by their church. She never looked back, devouring God’s Word even when she required an English dictionary to understand what she read. She consistently served in her church and as a prayer warrior.
Li’s family came second after her relationship with God, but she ensured they always felt like the first priority. A quiet and reserved woman, she showed her immense love through service and sacrifice, especially by preparing meals like her famous fried rice. She was also a humble and generous woman who showed her kindness by helping those she knew and those she didn’t whenever the opportunity arose.
She is survived by Andy, also of Belleville; Tracy and son-in-law Brian Crawford of Belleville; grandsons Tal (Megan Vogl), Andrew and Brent Moss; and (reluctantly) beloved dog Tiny.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Li’s wish was to be cremated.
A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, August 31 at Winstanley Baptist Church in Fairview Heights. The visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with a service to follow. Luncheon will be provided. Kalmer Memorial Services is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
