Dale Lauff

Dale T. Lauff, 94, of Belleville, IL, born March 24, 1930, in Belleville, IL, died Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO.

Dale left this world leaving behind a legacy of love. All who knew him loved him. He will be forever missed. Dale was a loving husband, beloved father, brother, grandfather, and friend to all. He is now reunited with the love of his life, Joanie.

Dale was a United States Navy Korean War veteran. He worked for 38 years as an account executive for St. Louis Southwestern Railway Co. before his retirement. Dale was a dedicated member of St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church, where he served as past president for the Holy Name Society and the St. Augustine School Board. He also served as past president and vice president of the Belleville Senior Citizens Club and was active with Althoff Catholic High School Bingo.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Joan C. Lauff, nee Voetman, whom he married on October 17, 1953, at St. Mary Catholic Church, and who died on February 4, 2012; his parents, John C. and Alice, nee Simpson, Lauff; a granddaughter, Dana Lauff; a brother in infancy; a sister, Myrajean (Leon) Mueller; a son-in-law, John Ward; two brothers-in-law, Ardell Becherer and John “Jack” Weck; and a sister-in-law, Mary Ann (Vincent) Fellner.

Surviving are his five children, Cindy (Gerry) Case, Dan (Diane) Lauff, Kathy (Frank) Hoffmann, Mary Ward, and Angie (Joe) Minor; 14 grandchildren, Amy (Aaron) Moser, Suzi Case, Caleb (Aimee) Case, Jeremiah (Mary) Case, Andrea (Joshua) Dalton, Graham Lauff, Kristin (Matt) Ryan, Alison (Logan Gore) Hoffmann, Ryan Hoffmann, Josh Ward, Danielle (Alex) Griffith, Zach Ward, Austin Minor, and Dylan Minor; 11 great-grandchildren, Aiden, Alex, and Allison Moser, Cole, Kaitlyn, Bella, and Adalyn Ryan, Miles and Danica Dalton, and Sophia and River Case; a great-great-granddaughter, Sophie Ryan, and one more on the way; two sisters, MaryAnn Becherer and Sandra Weck; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday, August 24, 2024, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Funeral: A funeral procession will leave at 12 noon Saturday, August 24, 2024, from George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, for a 12:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. William McGhee officiating.

Burial will be at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
