Anthony Reinhardt

Anthony “Doc” Reinhardt, 86, of Smithton, IL, born September 29, 1937, in Centreville, IL, died Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Cedarhurst of Waterloo, Waterloo, IL.

Doc was a boilermaker with Union Local 363. After his retirement, he stayed active and worked for St. Clair County, maintaining Foley Park for over 10 years. He was very involved with Smithton American Legion Post 937 and was also a longtime member of the 76er’s Club. Anthony was a United States Army veteran.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, JoAnn Reinhardt, nee Klassing; his parents, Anthony and Marion, nee Touchette, Reinhardt; a sister, Janet Taylor; and a brother-in-law, Bud Frieze.

He is survived by two sons, Tony Reinhardt and Donald “Donny” (Ann) Reinhardt; two step-daughters, Judy Martindale and Barbie (Kevin) Bettis; his grandchildren, Lauren Reinhardt, Chrissy (Josh) Wilson, Kevin (Kim) Bettis, Amanda (Cody) Gordon, Ashley Martindale, and Adam Martindale; five great-grandchildren, Taylor and Chase Wilson, Madison and Brooks Bettis, and Caizelin Gordon; a sister, Shirley Frieze; a brother-in-law, Bill Mulconnery; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, August 24, 2024, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Smithton, IL.

Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 24, 2024, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Smithton, IL, with Fr. Stanley Konieczny officiating.

Burial with military honors will be at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Smithton, IL.
