Alice McIntosh

Alice Louise McIntosh, age 85, of O’Fallon, Ill., was welcomed to heaven on September 20, 2024. Alice was born in the Chicago area on June 13, 1939 in Berwyn, Illinois to Allan and Betty (nee Stola) Wehrmann. She was baptized into the Holy Catholic Church at St. Pius X Church in Chicago. After joining the United States Air Force, she met the love of her life, William A. McIntosh, while they both served with distinction at Scott AFB. They were married on October 1, 1960 in Chicago, Ill., and Alice gave birth to five children. They settled in O’Fallon, where Alice continued to serve others by caring for the sick as a nurse. After retiring from Saint Louis University Hospital, she continued her service volunteering at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, St. Vincent de Paul, and area food pantries. She cared deeply for her family and loved her children, grandchildren, and friends deeply. 

She was preceded in death by her husband William, her son David B. McIntosh, and her sister JoAnne Gentry. She is survived by four children William A. (Dawn, nee Cocchi) McIntosh, Barbara (Cris) Armstrong, Robley (Wendy, nee Harris) McIntosh, and Jonathan (Jessica, nee Brenningmeyer) McIntosh; and her daughter-in-law Diana, nee Sullivan, McIntosh. Her legacy lives on in her 32 grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and great-grandchildren: Jennifer, Molly, Annie, Matthew, Kimberly, Margaret, William, Joseph, Sarah, Allison, Danielle, Ian, Austin, Charlotte, Sophie, Cameron, Connor, Levi, Jasmine, Nina, Jack, Aiden, Mason, Lachlan, Olivia, Rowan, Luke, Gavin, Cameron, Ava, Isabella, and Cooper.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm, Monday, September 23, 2024 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 W. Washington St., O’Fallon, Ill. Visitation will resume at 9 am, Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church. Yesterday’s Kids will conduct a walk-through at 9:15 am, Tuesday, at the church. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am, Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 625 St. Nicholas Dr., O’Fallon, Ill., with Rev. Nick Junker presiding. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Keppler’s Cemetery, O’Fallon Township, Ill.
