Edward Joseph Plese, age 97, passed away peacefully, leaving behind many fond memories. Born in Granite City, Illinois, Ed lived a long and fulfilling life. He proudly served his country during World War II, in the U.S. Army, and was honorably discharged at the end of the war.
A lover of nature and the outdoors, Ed found joy in the beauty of trees, flowers, and birds. His deep affection for animals, especially dogs, was well-known among those close to him.
After retiring from Boeing Aircraft Company in St. Louis, Missouri, Ed became an avid stock market enthusiast, dedicating himself to monitoring the market daily. He also treasured the time spent on his boat at Lake Ozarks with his beloved wife, Marie. In 2021, Ed moved to Florida, where he embraced the warmth, sunshine, and the ocean he came to adore.
Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Marie, who passed away in 2014. He is survived by his daughter, Karen Plese & husband, Jim, of Daytona Beach, Florida, and his son, Richard Plese (Gennifer Gilbert) of Tarpon Springs, Florida; as well as his grandson, Christopher Plese.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, in Granite City, Illinois, on Monday, October 14, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., with private burial services to follow.
May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the beauty of nature he so deeply cherished.
