Candace McCarthy

Candace Lynn “Candy” McCarthy, 59, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 11:18 a.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2024. She was born January 9, 1965, in East St. Louis, Illinois, a cherished daughter of the late Lawrence R. and Marion R. (Chastain) McCarthy. Candy was loved by everyone she ever met and was a member of Bethel Chapel Pentecostal Church. She loved her church, enjoyed her days of bowling, participating in Special Olympics and caring for her dogs and cats. She cherished taking care of her nieces, nephews; great nieces and great nephews and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends. She is survived by two sister and brothers-in-law, Patricia “Patty” and Richard O’Dell of Granite City and Pamela McCarthy and Robert Powers of Granite City; five nieces and nephews, Stacy and Steven Baldridge, Tracy O’Dell, Richard O’Dell Jr., Cassie and Steven Hawthorne and Elizabeth and Aubon Walker; thirteen great nieces and great nephews, Cheyenne, Logan, Dawson, Lincoln, Lana, Kaiden, Henley, Luca, Mila, Josie, Luna, Roman and Delilah; other extended family and friends. In celebration of her life, a visitation will be at Bethel Chapel Pentecostal Church, 2445 Ohio Avenue in Granite City on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 12 p.m. with Pastor David Brimm officiating. She will be laid to rest with her parents at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Tri-Cities Area Association for the Handicapped.
