Wanda Basse

Wanda Basse, age 78, of Belleville, IL, born on April 23, 1946 in Galveston, Texas, died on November 1, 2024 at her residence with her family at her side.

Wanda worked in housekeeping at Calvin Johnson Care Center for 17 years. She had 14 battles over the last 14 years with stage four cancer, but she never lost her smile. Her family said she was “stronger than any storm.” Wanda was a member of the First Baptist Church, Columbia, IL. She will be sadly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse O. and Irene (nee Crumpton) Gosha; her brothers, Jessie E. Gosha, Jerry Gosha and Larry Gosha; her sisters, Melba Ganus and Jean Stewart; and her granddaughter, Lydia Simburger.

She is survived by her daughters, Kim (Leo) Simburger of Smithton, IL, Regina Emery of Phoenix, AZ, Teri (Lee) Jones of Las Vegas, NV and Angie (Mark) Emring of Millstadt, IL; her grandchildren, Daniel (Shelby) Moll of Mascoutah, IL Andrew (Alea) Simburger of Slippery Rock, PA, Laney Jones of Las Vegas, NV, Evan Emring of Millstadt, IL;  her great grandchildren, Carson Moll and Mallory Moll of Freeburg, IL; her brother, Joe (Debbie) Gosha of O’Fallon, IL; sisters, June Taylor of Belleville, IL and Kay Munoz of Mascoutah, IL. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to  First Baptist Church, Columbia, Il on their website at the tab “Online Giving”.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday November 6, 2024 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Columbia, IL.

Funeral service will be on Wednesday November 6, 2024 at 12 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Columbia, IL with Pastor Jonathan Peters officiating. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Collinsville, IL.
