Marcella Catherine Orsa, nee Macke, 95, of Belleville IL, born December 29, 1928, in Breese, IL, died November 5, 2024, at St. Paul’s Home, Belleville, IL.
Marcella was the head cook at Cathedral Grade School for 25 years. She was a dedicated member of St. Peter’s Cathedral, Belleville, IL. Where she was also a member of the Quilters Club and The Sodality of Our Lady of Perpetual Help and made many lifelong friends there. Her favorite hobby was quilting, and she made many beautiful quilts for family and friends. Marcella, along with her husband, Andrew, served for 8 years as a campground host for the National Park Service at Pulltite Campground on the Current River in Shannon County, MO. She loved to cook and enjoyed the company of others. Over the last 30 years, Marcella enjoyed spending her winters in Mission, Texas, where she had many friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, Andrew S. Orsa, whom she married on September 5, 1950, and who died on May 20, 2002; her parents, Frank and Frances, nee Schroer, Macke; two brothers, Wilbert (Dorothy) and Charles (Catherine) Macke; and three sisters, Rosemary (Edward) Bujnak, Hedwig (Gilbert) Birkner, and Gertrude (Vincent) Margiotta; and a son-in-law, Robert Weber.
Marcella is survived by her six children, Linda J. (Gary) Aves, Elaine F. (Ken) Vilimek, Dominick A. (Bonnie) Orsa, Joseph F. (Karen) Orsa, Andrew G. (Nelly) Orsa, and Mary K. (Bob) Weber; 13 Grandchildren, Matthew and Michael Walsh, Amanda Combs, Christian and Benjamin Vilimek, Kelly Beggs, Jodi Barr, Jessica Stenzel, Casandra Orsa, Andrew and Alex Orsa, Katie Logan and Samuel Weber; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many dear nieces and nephews.

Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, November 16, 2024, at St. Peter’s Cathedral Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.
Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Shiloh, IL.
