Elaine Marie Conley, nee Fischer, 74, of Belleville, IL, born January 17, 1950, in Belleville, IL, passed away peacefully in her sleep Monday, November 4, 2024, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO.
Elaine was a loving spouse, mother, sister and grandmother. When she was not spending time with her family and friends, she was caring for animals, especially her beloved dogs. Elaine had a passion for teaching, where she shaped the lives of students over the course of her 33-year career at Belle Valley Elementary School. Her achievements in education were recognized in 1996 when Elaine was awarded the Emerson Electric Excellence in Teaching Award.
In retirement, Elaine continued her bond with her co-workers and friends as a member of the Red Hats Society. Elaine cherished her time with her grandchildren, watching them grow, providing love, advice and care. Elaine touched the lives of so many, and she will be dearly missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walton and Rose, nee Fischer, Gundlach; stepfather Joeseph Gundlach; and her brother, Tom Fischer.
Surviving are her husband, Gary Conley; her son, Justin Conley (Laura Wheeler); two grandchildren, Walker Conley and Ronan Conley; three sisters, Marsha (Michael) Nester, Karen (John) Reichert, and Janice (Mark) Puhl; and many dear nieces, nephews, and friends.
