Paula J. Steffan, nee Bradley, 73, of New Athens, IL, born July 24, 1951, in Belleville, IL, died peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO.
Paula was a 1969 graduate of Belleville Township High School East. She retired from the City of Belleville where she worked as a secretary, first in the City Clerk’s office and then at the Wastewater Treatment Department, for over 25 years. She also worked in sales for Sears in Fairview Heights. Paula loved to read and collected a considerable number of books. She loved to shop and find the perfect gifts for her family. She also loved spending time with her family. In her younger years, she loved to bowl with friends in leagues at area bowling centers.
Paula was preceded in death by her parents, William F. Jr., and Virginia, nee Gauch, Bradley; her brother, Michael Bradley; and her brother-in-law, Steven Steffan.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, John A. “Bud” Steffan, Jr.; her daughter, Angela (Craig) Laskowski of Waterloo, IL; three grandchildren, Aaron (Taylor) Laskowski of Smithton, IL, Sarah (Connor Pinsker) Laskowski of Highland, IL, and Craig Laskowski, Jr. of Waterloo, IL; a great-granddaughter, Kinsley Laskowski; her sister, Linda (Mike) Buescher of Waterloo, IL; five nieces, Kelly (Kevin) Bollman, Shannon (Jeff) Gastreich, Michelle (Elijah) Marley, Marissa (John Mannino) Buescher, and Lauren (Cameron Durante) Bradley; and her daughter, Angela’s, father-in-law, John Laskowski.

Funeral: A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, with Rev. Michelle Torigian officiating.
According to Paula’s wishes, cremation was held.
