Janet Lou Wilhite, 84, of Maryville and formerly of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 3:09 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at the Stillwater Senior Living in Edwardsville. She was born May 11, 1940, in Granite City, a daughter of the late Keith and Ruby (Estler) Hart. She married Robert “Bob” Wilhite on December 8, 1972, at Central Christian Church in Granite City and he passed away on February 6, 2014. She retired from the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers in 1995 after over 30 years of dedicated service in contracting. She was a member of Central Christian Church in Granite City. Janet loved her days of traveling and enjoyed shopping, playing the slots, dancing and listening to a variety of music. She cherished her family and friends and enjoyed special times shared with them. She is survived by five dear children and their spouses, Lori and Jerry Weber, Dana and Bruce Patton, Susan and Randy Coffey, Jason and Lorraine Wilhite and Jennifer and Bill Mullen; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Amanda and Michael Daugherty, Andrew Weber, Courtney Patton, Samantha and J.J. Quint, Wesley Wilhite, Chad and Jennifer Wilhite, Robert Mullen, Allen Mullen and Stephanie Mullen; seven great grandchildren, Lucas Daugherty, Logan Daugherty, Jeffrey “J.P.” Quint, Isaac Quint, Zander Wilhite, Zoe Wilhite and Zayden Wilhite; a sister, Sandra Cook of Edwardsville; other extended family and friends. In addition to her beloved husband of 41 years and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Bewley and a brother-in-law, Lynn Cook.
In celebration of her life, a memorial visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon on Monday, July 1, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until time of a memorial service at 7:00 p.m. with Reverend Derrell Brame officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
