Russell Wayne Talbert, Jr., lovingly known as Grandpa “Bud”, age 76 of Troy, IL, passed away on Friday, July 30, 2021 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.
Russell was born December 12, 1944 in Granite City, IL to the late Russell Wayne Sr. and Emma Opal (nee Besanceney) Talbert. He graduated from Collinsville High School in 1963. On May 21, 1965 he married the love of his life, Janice Kay Grieve, and they raised a family a four children, Deanna, Lisa, Richard and Laura.
He retired after 30 years of service as a truck driver with Prairie Farms Dairy. After retirement, he worked for Truck Centers, Inc. and O’Reilly’s Auto Parts, both in Troy. He was a member of Frieden’s United Church of Christ, a lifelong member of the Edwardsville Moose, Teamster Local 525, and Fraternal Order of the Eagle. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping, and taking cruises. For the last 30 years, he and his wife, Janice, loved country western dancing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Diane Talbert.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Janice Kay Talbert; his four children: Deanna (Todd) Neubauer of Troy, IL, Lisa Talbert of Collinsville, IL, Richard (Kim) Talbert of Highland, IL and Laura Talbert-Burroughs of Athens, AL; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Emma Joyce (Larry) Hartmann of Cedar Rapids, IA and Debi (Kenny) Dressel of Carlyle, IL; numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 12 noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at the Collinsville VFW Post 5691, 1234 Vandalia Street, Collinsville, IL with a memorial service at 1 p.m. Dinner will follow the service.
