Muriel Hattie Schreiber, age 92, formerly of Granite City, IL, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2024, at Liberty Village, Maryville, IL. Muriel was born on February 18, 1932, in Granite City, IL, a daughter of the late Perry and Estelle (Thurmond) Carver.
On January 7, 1950, Muriel Carver married Robert Schreiber in East St. Louis, IL, and Robert passed away on January 8, 1987. Muriel and Bob owned and operated Schreiber Lettering in Granite City, IL, for many years. She enjoyed traveling, knitting and spending time with her family and friends.
Muriel loved life, she loved to laugh, but most of all she loved her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents and husband, Muriel was preceded in death by five brothers, two sisters and her twin sister, Miriam; and by three granddaughters, Shelley Banach, Jodi Conway and Alissa Schreiber.
She is survived by her loving children, Robert (Carol) Schreiber Jr., Alice (Jack) Rhoads, Christopher (Royce) Schreiber, Donna (Butch) Conway and Fred (Joan) Schreiber; significant other, Donald Robeen; proud grandmother to eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great-nephews, extended family and friends.
In celebration of her life, a visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Troy, IL. The funeral mass will follow at 11 a.m., with Father Kevin Laughery officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, Glen Carbon, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in the form of masses to St. Jerome Catholic Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Donations will be accepted at the church.
