Paul G. “Pete” Dall, 91, a long-time resident of Belleville, IL, was born August 13, 1933, in Aviston, IL, and died Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Mercy Rehab and Care Center, Swansea, IL.
After a tour of duty in the Air Force during the Korean War, Mr. Dall was a chemical operator and retired from Monsanto/Solutia as a dedicated and loyal employee with 35 years of service. Upon retirement, he devoted his time to caring for his wife and supporting multiple charities. He also very much enjoyed seeing and joking with his grandchildren with his wry sense of humor.
He was in a mixed marriage as he was an avid Cubs fan and his beloved wife, Marianne, was an ardent Cardinals fan. But most importantly he was a devoted family man who loved the City of Belleville (as opposed to Swansea!). To unwind, He also enjoyed playing cards, consuming the news, and listening to music, with Roy Rogers as his personal favorite.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Marianne, nee Weingartner Dall, whom he married on October 5, 1963, and who died on May 13, 2011; a son, Donald Gonzales; his parents, Ben and Catherine, nee Wesselman, Dall; three sisters, Alvina Dunn, Dorothy Dall, and Jane Firkus; and five brothers, Alphonse, Lawrence, Joseph, Gregory, and Bernard Dall.
He is survived by two children, Lisa Dall (husband, Todd McGovern) and Jack (Anne) Gonzales; six grandchildren, Kyle and Keller McGovern, Dustin, Cody, Josef and Don Gonzales; several great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Jan Dall.
