Willie Mae Allen, 76, of Granite City, IL, passed away at 11:35 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 2024 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City surrounded by her family.
She was born Aug. 12, 1948 in East St. Louis, IL to the late James and Margaret (Mallory) Wells.
Willie Mae worked as a security guard for Nestle, Gateway Race Track and Tri-City Port. She was a god fearing woman and dedicated, loving mom. She helped establish Boy Scout Troop #21 in Madison, IL. She was an associate member of the Venice Social Club and loved to go fishing and watching TV Westerns and crime shows.
Survivors left behind to mourn her loss include 2 daughters: Ruth (Felicia) Jacks of Alpharetta, GA and Nicole Godspower of Granite City; a son: Eric (Lisa) Jacks of Granite City; 11 grandchildren including her very special grandson: Everett (Alisia) Jacks as well as Monique (Samuel) Roach, Andre Jacks, Alishia Jacks, Eric Jacks Jr., David Jacks, Ryann Samuels, Nicolis Samuels, Byran (Latresha) Samuels and Bryan-Nicole Samuels; many great-grandchildren; 3 sisters: Mattie (Tillman) Williams, Patricia (Lavon) Jordan and Debra (Michael) Tate; and 2 brothers: James Wells Jr. and Jimmy Wells.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son: David Jacks; a grandson: Demetre Hollingsworth; 2 sisters: Josephine Wells and Mary Wells; 2 brothers: Chester Wells and Maurice Wells; and her longtime friend and companion: Helen Jacks.
The family will hold a celebration of Willie Mae’s life at Noon, Sat. Jan. 4, 2024 at the Eagles, 2558 Madison Ave., Granite City.
