Charles V. “Chuck” Lewis, 89, of Troy, IL., born Saturday, July 13, 1935, in Troy, IL and passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at Anderson Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Chuck was proud of his faith attending St. Jerome Catholic Church in Troy, IL. He was a faithful member of the Knights of Columbus Council 9266 and Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, Holy Trinity Assembly 3442, Troy, IL. He retired from Granite City Steel after 45 years of service, not missing one day of work. Chuck enjoyed all kinds of sport and sporting events especially when it involved his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Ashley Hipp; great-grandson, Waylon Haggard; parents, Roy and Mary Rose (nee Capelle) Lewis; and his brothers, Roy, Marion, William and Leslie Lewis.
Surviving is his wife, Darlene (nee Row) Lewis, whom he married July 16, 1955 at St. Jerome Catholic Church; his children, Ray (Sheila) Lewis of Troy, IL, Tina (Jack) Haggard of Troy, IL, Denise (Mitch) Hipp of Collinsville, IL, Joyce (Bob) Carter of Troy, IL, Roger (Tracy) Lewis of St. Jacob, IL and Ryan (Rachel) Lewis of Edwardsville, IL; grandchildren, Crystal Middleton, Brooke (Nathan) Morris, Parker Lewis, Blake (Amber) Hardesty, Lindsay (Luke) Bertles, Danielle Carter, Brianne (Jason) Rehg, Tyler Lewis, Cole (Sheryl) Haggard, Drew (Kristy) Lewis, Chase Lewis, Carson Lewis, Jordan Lewis and Emma Lewis; 19 great-grandchildren; his sister, Rita (Jerome) Baumgartner of New Baden, IL; nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11 am on Monday, December 30, at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Troy, IL with Fr. Kevin Laughery officiating. Interment will follow in St. Jerome Catholic Cemetery, Troy, IL
