Joan Marie Schrumpf, age 77 of Highland, IL, died Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at her residence in Highland, IL.
She was born on Wednesday, February 26, 1947, in Belleville, IL, the daughter of Leo and Arlene (nee Luker) Elliott.
On Friday, September 22, 1995, she married Merle E. Schrumpf at Troy, Illinois, who survives . She was also a member of Grantfork United Church of Christ and the Bakers Union.
Joan was born in Belleville, Illinois and grew up in the Metro Area. She was a woman of conviction and commitment. Steadfast in her beliefs, unwavering in her love for the Lord: she took great joy in His word. She was a loyal member to the United Church of Christ, Grantfork, Illinois.
She enjoyed bowling and had won several trophies. Joan enjoyed decorating, sewing, and doing arts and crafts. Joan loved to take care of herself with luxurious baths, jewelry and fashion. She loved shoes, perfumes and lotions.
She loved Merle and their time together. Never missing an anniversary, faithfully committed, she enjoyed traveling with her husband to Alaska, Hawaii and several states were visited. She enjoyed camping on their land in New Mexico and was always adventurous.
Joan worked several years at the Marine Garment Factory and later worked for the Highland Middle School as a cafeteria worker. She also helped her sister at Haury Bakery Shop in Collinsville, Illinois.
She loved to dance and met Merle country line dancing, Joan loved her dogs, and her favorite color was purple. She loved Italian food, especially lasagna. Cooking and baking were passions of hers.

- Nephew – Bill Haury
- Grandchildren – 6
- Great Grandchildren – 7
She was preceded in death by three predeceased contacts:

Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2025, at Grantfork United Church of Christ in Grantfork, IL.
Funeral Service/Mass will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2025, at Grantfork United Church of Christ in Grantfork, IL, with Rev. Nancy L. Brooks, Interim Pastor officiating.
Interment will be at Grantfork U.C.C. Cemetery in Grantfork, IL.
