Carolyn M. Smith (nee: Swinnerton) passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at home surrounded by her family. Carolyn was born on August 9, 1934 in Mascoutah, Illinois to Gerald and Echo (Hale) Swinnerton. She graduated from the Deaconess Nursing School in 1955 and worked as a Registered Nurse throughout the St. Louis area until she retired in 1992. Carolyn married the love of her life, Vernon, on June 25, 1955 and he survives. She was preceded in death by her Parents. They have two children, Farley (Rhonda) Smith and Rachel (Kevin) Barnett. She is the loving grandmother of four grandchildren Jenna (Eric) Smith Hunter, Joshua Smith, Ben and Luke Barnett and four great-grandchildren Alexandria, Elijah, Isaac and Elizabeth Hunter.
Visitation will be on Thursday, August 24, 2017 from 9-11am with a Funeral Service immediately following 11:00am at Hutchens Mortuary 675 Graham Road, Florissant, MO 63031.
