Janet Marie Todd, nee Walsh, born July 17, 1949, was granted eternal rest when she passed away Monday afternoon, January 6, 2025 at Evelyn’s Hospice House in Creve Coeur, MO. Her husband and family were at her side.
Jan grew up in Southern California. She attended what is now San Diego State University, majoring in Psychology. In 1976, she met a neighbor in her apartment complex – an Air Force C-141 pilot stationed at Norton AFB– and thus began the long relationship with David. They married November 20, 1976 and she began her toughest job the Air Force has to offer – an Air Force Spouse. Jan was a proud Air Force wife who supported her husband and other servicemen and women throughout David’s long military career. After retirement from the USAF in 2000, David entered the corporate world. In 2003 they chose to relocate to O’Fallon, where they had been previously stationed twice.
Jan had worked as a Sales Rep for various companies, but her true passion was volunteering in her communities. She was a member of O’Fallon Woman’s Club, where she had served as Past President, and chaired multiple committees. Of note, she was instrumental in the annual Red, White, & Blue Breakfast that serves our Public Safety crews; and together with her daughter Beth, she co-founded the O’Fallon Empty Bowl community luncheon that has led to sizable contributions to our local food pantry.
Jan was an active parishioner at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, where she led the annual Christmas Giving Tree program for 7 years. Her family also created and donated a meditative prayer labyrinth at church, in memory of her late daughter Megan, where people are welcome to walk and pray.
Jan was an avid reader and world traveler, having embarked on 46 cruises, and visited six continents, including Antarctica.
She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Patricia, nee Hunt, Walsh; her daughter Margaret “Megan” Pemberton; siblings Bob Walsh, Pam (Russ) Billings and a baby sister Kathleen; and brother-in-law Tony Ramirez.
Surviving are her husband Colonel David F. Todd, USAF (retired); daughter Beth Lundy and her husband Dr. James Lundy, all of O’Fallon, Ill.; grandchildren Lauren and Kate Lundy, Robert and Grace Pemberton; siblings Mike (Kathy) Walsh of West Covina, Cal., Theresa Ramirez of San Tan Valley, Ariz., Jim (Sandy) Walsh of Covina, Calif., Steve (Jill) Walsh of San Gabriel, Calif., and sister-in-law Debbie Walsh of Fontana, Calif.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Jan Todd are suggested to either Siteman Cancer Center or BJC’s Evelyn’s House online, or envelopes will be available at the church.
Online condolences may be shared at www.wfh-ofallon.com. Wolfersberger Funeral Home, O’Fallon, IL, is serving the family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, January 18, 2025 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 625 St. Nicholas Dr., O’Fallon, IL, with Fr. George Mauck presiding and Fr. William J. Hitpas concelebrating.
