Sharon Catherine Buettner, nee Christ, 77, of Swansea, IL, born February 11, 1947, in Belleville, IL, died Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Oak Hill, Waterloo, IL.
Sharon was a class of 1965 graduate from the Academy of Notre Dame. She worked as a teller for 44 years at U.S. Bank before she retired. Sharon was an active member of St. Peter’s Cathedral and the Swansea Moose. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and loved to make cookies with her grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert J. and Carnation E., nee Haas, Christ; her brother, Dennis O. Christ; a nephew, Scott R. Buettner; her mother-in-law, Luella Buettner; and her first husband, Donald Schaeffer.
Surviving are her loving husband of 43 years, Steven P. Buettner, whom she married on July 25, 1981; her son, Steven P. (Kaitlynn) Buettner II; two grandsons, Steven P. Buettner III and Scott J. Buettner; a sister-in-law, Malinda Christ Rapp; a brother-in-law, Rich (Linda) Buettner; Mindy (Jay) Kurtz; and nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, January 27, 2025, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at St. Peter’s Cathedral Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.
Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at St. Peter’s Cathedral Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. John Myler officiating.
Burial will be at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
