Karen Furlow

Karen Leah (DeWall) Furlow, 67, passed away at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon, IL, on Monday, January 20, 2025, at 5:35 p.m. 

She was born on July 9, 1957, in Rockford, Illinois to Kenneth and Faye (Preston) DeWall.

She earned her associate’s degree from SWIC before going on to work as a Travel Agent at Ambassador Travel. In her free time, Karen enjoyed traveling, reading, and crossword puzzles. Karen had the honor and privilege of raising her grandson, Logan Furlow, a job which she cherished above all others. She loved spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandson.

Karen is survived by two sons, Joshua (Alicia) Furlow of Caseyville, and Brett (Amanda) Furlow of Goose Creek, Missouri; four siblings, Steven (Yvonne) DeWall of Bethalto, Timothy (Sylvia) DeWall of Columbia City, Indiana, David (Sandra) DeWall of East Alton, and Barbara (Peter) Feliz of New York, New York; a sister-in-law, Connie (Kevin) DeWall of Port Orange Florida; her grandson, Logan Furlow; and her bonus grandchildren, Gilean and Erza Furlow, as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Allison Furlow; and a brother, Kevin DeWall.

A Celebration of Karen’s Life will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025, at The Mascoutah American Legion, beginning at 4 p.m. and going throughout the evening.

Per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Memorials are suggested to research into curing Myelofibrosis and/or an educational fund for her grandson, Logan.
