Mildred Haney

Mildred Alberta Haney, 90, died at 4:55 a.m., Friday, March 21, 2025 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City.

She was born in Cave in Rock, Illinois on December 15, 1934, the daughter of Theodore and Churchill (Leonberger) Patton.

Mildred graduated in 1954 from East Alton Wood River High School, and had previously worked at Olin Corporation in East Alton and Granite City Army Depot. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and crafting. Her greatest joy, however, was that of being a wife and a loving mother and grandmother.

She married Robert C. Haney on September 18, 1954 in East Alton, Illinois, and for the vast majority of their married life they resided in Cottage Hills, where they raised their three children. Together, they shared 41 years of marriage before his death on July 28, 1996.

Surviving are two daughters, Tammy Martinez and Tina Ruiz both of Granite City; a son and daughter in-law, Robert and Karen Haney Jr. of Wilsonville; 

six grandchildren and their spouses, Casey and Kenny Wallace, Jaime Ruiz, Alexandria and Edward Womack, Amanda and Nelson Maldonado, Jason Myers, and Stacy and Lane Dabbs; as well as 21 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Kelly Ruiz on March 18, 1988; and a sister and brother in-law, Nancy Delores and Doil Compton.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. Wednesday until time of funeral services at 7 p.m. at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.

Burial will be private.

Memorials may be given to Shriner’s Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
