Evelyn Laverne (Mangrum) Teetor, beloved mother to 2 children, passed away peacefully on Apr. 26, 2025 at the age of 93. Born in Cobden, IL onJune 14, 1931 to Edgar and Ruby Mangrum.
Evelyn lived her entire life in Illinois. She was a homemaker and raised 2 children in Granite City, IL until they both married and moved away.
You could count on Evelyn to have a clean house and supper on the table every night. She enjoyed gardening, cats and scary movies. She loved to travel to Southern Illinois to visit her mom, dad and brother, and most summers the family would drive to California to see her sister and go to Disneyland. She insisted on eating at restaurants that had baked potatoes. Evelyn enjoyed socializing with friends at their house and playing pinochle. She and her husband were longtime members of the Moose Lodge. They both enjoyed the “Big Band” music era and dancing. Evelyn was the “Queen of Hearts” at their annual ball.
She is survived by one son, John Stephen Teetor and daughter-in-law, Rosalinda Cisneros Teetor, 7 grandchildren, Gary (Gena) Spray, Misty (Ryan) Hawthorne, Travis and Lucas Teetor, and Antonio, Javier and Roberto Alvarado, 10 great-grandchildren, Baylie, Lynnzie and Shelbie Borth, Payten Hawthorne, Madison Spray, and Tony, Niko, Cain, Vienna and Mia Alvarado, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, Aiden, and Alana Edwards, and Grayson Barraza.
In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Carol Spray, former husband, John Orville Teetor, brother, Eddy Mangrum, and sister, Elizabeth Moerlein.
