Evan Wayne Price, “Wayne the Barber,” 88, of Highland, IL formerly of Granite City, IL, died at 12:59 a.m. Wed. May 7, 2025 at Alhambra Care Center in Alhambra, IL.
He was born Nov. 26, 1936 in Coakly County, Kentucky to the late Cecil and Ava (Marcum) Price.
On June 21, 1959, he married Marilynn Jean (Norfleet) Price in Alexander, IL. She preceded him in death Apr. 5, 2025.
Wayne owned Maryland Barbershop in Granite City and cut hair for many years, and at the Army Depot, eventually retiring from Hon’s Barbershop in Wood River. He was a Master Mason with Triple Lodge #835, and served as the Past Worthy Patron of New Hope Chapter #432, Order of Eastern Star. He had been a charter member of First United Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by a daughter, Peggy Price of Highland, IL, 2 brothers, Mark (Sharon) Price of New Berlin, IL, and Larry Price of Flower Mound, TX, and 2 sisters, Laura Lawhorn, and Connie (Bruce) Jeffers, both of New Berlin.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jay Evan Price, a sister, Stella James, a sister-in-law, Vangie Price, and 2 brothers-in-law, Robert James, and Daniel Lawhorn.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m. Sat. May 10, 2025 at Wojstrom Funeral Home with Pastor Penny Barber officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Memorial Estates.
