Richard Edward Henson, 84, of Granite City, IL, died at 3:43 p.m. Tues. May 20, 2025 at Jefferson Barracks V.A. Medical Center in St. Louis, MO.
He was born Aug. 15, 1940 in Salem, IL to the late William Arthur and Lillian Barbara (Onhiser) Henson.
On Dec. 27, 2009, he and Edna Lucida (Loucks) were married in Madison, IL. She survives.
Richard was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran, serving as a nurse with the military and then around the St. Louis area after military service, including as a nurse at Anderson Hospital in Maryville and eventually retiring from the Missouri Veterans Home in St. Louis. He was an Eagles member and trustee and loved to work the bingo events.
In addition to his wife, Edna, he is survived by 3 daughters, Penny (Tony) Dizello, Mary Jane Ferguson, and Ellen (Ken) Roberts, a step-son, Pierre’, 12 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
The family will hold a celebration of Richard’s life, Sun. June 1, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the Granite City Eagles #1126. He will be laid to rest with military honors Tues. June 3, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
