Jeffery Davis

With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Jeffery “Jeff” Lynn Davis, age 83, of Granite City, Illinois. Jeff departed this life peacefully on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois, surrounded by love.

Born on September 14, 1941, in Memphis, Tennessee, Jeff was the beloved son of the late William Bryan Davis Jr. and Geraldine (Hendren) Davis. On August 31, 1968, he married the love of his life, Margaret Kay Craft, in Memphis, Tennessee. Together, they shared a beautiful journey of 56 years filled with faith, family, and enduring love.

A proud patriot, Jeff answered the call of duty and served his country with honor in the United States Air Force, rising to the esteemed rank of Chief Master Sergeant. His 33 years of distinguished military service were marked by integrity, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

Beyond his military career, Jeff was a man of deep faith and compassion. He served as a pastor at several area churches, offering guidance, comfort, and inspiration to countless lives. He was known for his warm heart, wise counsel, and steadfast devotion to God and community.

Jeff found joy in life’s simple pleasures—diving into a good book, cheering on his beloved St. Louis Cardinals, and watching classic John Wayne westerns. But his greatest joy of all came from the time he spent with those he cherished most—his family and friends.

He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Kay Davis of Granite City; his daughter and pride, Kim Davis of Granite City; his sister, Nelda Jackson of Bartlett, Tennessee; and his faithful grand puppy, Shadow. He also leaves behind many treasured nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss his steady presence, hearty laugh, and generous spirit.

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, William “Willie” Davis; and his sister, Janet Wilson.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Irwin Chapel in Granite City, Illinois.

A celebration of Jeff’s remarkable life will continue with a graveside service at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri. Full military honors will be rendered by the United States Air Force. Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. The procession will depart at 9:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital.

Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.irwinchapel.com.

Jeff Davis lived a life of purpose, service, and love. His legacy will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
