EDWARDSVILLE – A convicted felon found in possession of multiple controlled substances while illegally armed faces new Class X felonies after a Madison County traffic stop.
Jayleon D. Tally, 29, of National Stock Yards, Ill., was charged on Nov. 13, 2025 with armed violence, possession of a firearm by a repeat felony offender, unlawful possession with the intent to deliver methamphetamine, and two counts of possession with intent or delivery or a controlled substance, all Class X felonies.
The day prior on Nov. 12, Tally allegedly unlawfully possessed over 15 grams of methamphetamine, over 15 grams of cocaine, and over 15 grams of fentanyl while armed with an FN Reflex 9mm handgun. The weapon was unlawful for Tally to possess as a felon previously convicted in two prior St. Clair County cases of aggravated unlawful use of weapons in 2017 and unlawful delivery of a controlled substance in 2023.
The Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office filed a petition to deny Tally’s pretrial release from custody, stating he was identified as the driver during a traffic stop and was found to be on parole.
“Officers observed an odor of cannabis and searched, finding a gun and drugs in the void under the center console,” the petition states. “Officers determined defendant to be in possession of large quantities of narcotics, individually packaged for sale, including approximately 240 capsules of fentanyl, 34 grams of cocaine and 26 grams of methamphetamine.”
The petition describes Tally as a “danger to the community” and notes he has “a lengthy criminal history, including drug and gun offenses.”
The latest case against Tally was presented by the Metropolitan Enforcement Group of Southwestern Illinois (MEGSI).
All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
