Maryville Christian School’s eighth-grade baseball team is headed to the Regional Championship on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2026, at Gillespie High School against Hillsboro. Hillsboro beat Staunton 5-4, and Maryville Christian advanced with a 16-4 win over Shelbyville Moulton this past Saturday. Maryville Christian also topped Gillespie 10-0 on Sept. 17.
Maryville Christian’s athletic department said: “This team has worked hard all season, and now they’re one game away from a Regional Championship! Come out, fill the stands, and bring the Lion pride as we cheer on our boys.”
BOYS SOCCER
TRIAD 1, O’FALLON, MO. ST. DOMINIC CATHOLIC 0: Colby Wheat’s second-half strike, assisted by Parker Benson, was all that Triad needed to take the three points at St. Dominic’s park in O’Fallon, Mo.
The Knights are now 9-1-1, while the Crusaders slip to 5-2-0.

In the other matches played on Monday, Marquette Catholic defeated Litchfield 2-0, Jersey shut out Trenton Wesclin 4-0, Mascoutah won over Father McGivney Catholic 4-0, Waterloo dismantled Belleville West 6-0, and De Smet Jesuit of Creve Coeur, Mo., won over Belleville Althoff Catholic 3-1.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
COLLINSVILLE 25-19-25, FATHER MCGIVNEY CATHOLIC 19-25-21: Collinsville and McGivney split the first two sets at the Griffins Lair, but the Kahoks held off the Griffins in a spirited third set to take the match.
Emerson Isringhausen served up 10 points for McGivney, while Elli Williams had eight points, both Stella Garrett and Kennedy Kreke had two points and an ace each, while Kreke also had eight kills and seven blocks, Williams had 14 assists, and Harper Dettmer had 12 assists.
Collinsville is now 10-8-1, while the Griffins go to 14-9.
OTHER MATCHES
In a pair of other matches played on Monday, Trenton Wesclin swept Highland 25-13, 25-14, and Columbia took care of Waterloo Gibault Catholic 25-12, 25-11.
