WOOD RIVER – On a nice warm Tuesday afternoon at Leroy Emerick Field in Wood River the East Alton Wood River Oilers faced off against Columbia Eagles in a softball game. Columbia bats were hot, and they won 18 to 5.
Columbia was able to jump out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning, they added three runs in the second to extend the lead to 7-0. In the third inning Columbia and EAWR were able to both score 4 runs making the game 11-4.
In the fourth inning Columbia tacked on another four runs and EAWR scored one to make it 15 to 5. Them five runs were all the Oilers could score. In the fifth inning Columbia scored three more runs to make the score 18 to 5.
Columbia’s Jaylyn Brister went 4-4 with five RBI’s. Kasen Jany also homered for Columbia.
EAWR was led by Kami Kearby who went 2-3.
Columbia’s Harlie Rainbolt was on the mound she went 3.2 innings giving up 7 hits 5 runs and 1 walk. Emily Webb came on the mound in relief and gave up only 1 hit and 1 walk in 1.1 innings.
EAWR’s Jordan Early pitched 3 innings giving up 13 hits 11 runs and striking out 1. Haley Pratt came in and pitched two innings giving up 9 hits and 7 runs.
