WOOD RIVER – Wood River Police Department and Wood River Fire Department responded to a single vehicle that struck a house Tuesday afternoon in the 500 block of Metzger Ave.
When first responders arrived, they located a vehicle that had struck the front pillar of the house. The Wood River Fire Department and Alton Memorial Ambulance treated the driver of the vehicle. Due to injuries Arch Medical Helicopter was called. The helicopter landed at the old Wood River Hospital.

Neighbors said the victim lived at the house that was struck. It is unknown what caused the crash. The victim was transported to a St. Louis hospital.
