ALTON – Alton Police Department responded to an altercation and shooting that happened this morning at the Rent-A-Center on Homer Adams Parkway. First responders arrived on scene at around 10am. A woman reportedly entered the store and hit an employee in the face with a gun.
That employee then shot the woman after she was hit in the head with the gun., The gunshot victim left the store but was located not too far away in a vehicle near the intersection of Claire and Seminary.

She was taken to a nearby hospital and later airlifted to St. Louis. The worker was also taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of her injuries. Alton Police will release more information this afternoon.
