CM Football Coach Rick Reinhart Retires After 48 Years Of Coaching

BETHALTO – Civic Memorial will be looking for a new football coach after longtime coach Rick Reinhart announces retirement. Reinhart coaching career had stops at Civic Memorial, Collinsville, Tuscola, Fairfield, and Marquette Catholic then finished back at Civic Memorial.

Reinhart spent some 48 seasons as a head coach, including a total of 21 seasons between Civic Memorial, Collinsville, and Marquette Catholic. Reinhart is the winningest coach at Civic Memorial 97 games in 18 seasons between 1989-2006 and he got his 100th win during the fall of the 2023 season.

Reinhart spent 11 seasons coaching at Fairfield before coming to CM.

Between all his head coaching jobs he had 213 career wins. Reinhart spent his longest time as a head coach at CM during that time, CM went 97-79 and qualified for the IHSA playoffs eight times.

He then moved to Marquette Catholic where he spent one season and helped the Explorers to a 6-4 record and a playoff berth. He stepped down because he was offered the head coach job where he grew up in Tuscola. Reinhart guided the Warriors to the 2009 Class 1A state championship. He coached there through the 2014 season.

Reinhart moved to Collinsville in 2015 and spent three seasons coaching the Kahoks. He then came back to CM to help Mike Parmentier coach and after Parmentier stepped down in 2021 Reinhart then took over the Eagles till he retired.

Reinhart is in the Illinois Football Coaches Hall of Fame and St Louis Metro Coaches Hall of Fame.

His teams qualified for the playoffs 15 times and had 7 conference championships.

Coach Reinhart will continue to teach PE at Trimpe Middle School.
