Ercel “Ed” Cleo Beasley, 79, passed away at 11:54 am on Saturday, January 28, 2012 following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on October 27, 1932 in Lutesville, MO, the son of the late Estel and Ruth (Miller) Beasley.
He was united in marriage to Delores June Steck on November 5, 1955 in Alton, Illinois. She survives.
After graduating from Lutesville High School, Cleo proudly served in the United States Army. Then he enjoyed his long career with McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis, Missouri. He was an avid bowler and golfer and had been a long time member of the Greenville Country Club and the Wood River Moose.
In addition to his wife, June, he is survived by his son and wife, Mike and Linda (Thompson) Beasley; his daughter and “adopted” daughter, Karen Beasley and Cheryl Feinberg; two grandsons, which he was so proud of, Nate and Matt Beasley; one sister, Norma Jean Porter; one twin brother, Estel Leo Beasley; a half sister, Oleda Flint and a half brother, Lowell Beasley and his nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at the funeral home with Pastor Charles West officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto with military rites.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
