James Jackson

James Lee Jackson, age 65, of Troy, Ill., born August 21, 1950 in Wood River, Ill., passed away Tuesday morning, January 26, 2016, at his home, after a 19-month valiant battle against multiple myeloma.

Jim attended SIU-Edwardsville and Eastern Illinois University and was an educator for 30 years as an Audio-Visual Director and Social Studies teacher in Edwardsville. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and riding his motorcycle. Jim especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. In his retirement years, he worked at Gas Mart in Troy and Bowl Haven in Alton.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Mary Ellen Jackson; sisters JoAnn Dillon and Dona Wright, and brother Ralph Jackson, Jr.  

Surviving are his wife Sharon, nee Kettenhofen, Jackson of Troy, Ill., son David (Amber) Jackson of Troy; grandchildren Michael and Abigail; brother Glen (Doreen) Jackson of Godfrey; brother-in-law Ken Kettenhofen; sisters-in-law Dolores (Harold) Dannenberg, and Joyce Kettenhofen, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 10:00 am – Noon, Saturday, January 30, 2016 at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Troy.

Funeral:  Service will begin at Noon, Saturday, January 30, 2016, at the church. Private interment will be at St. Jerome Cemetery, Troy, Ill.
