Andrew Ganter

Andrew Michael Ganter, 50, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 3:15 p.m. on Monday, January 25, 2016 at his home. He was born February 26, 1965 in Alton, Illinois, a son of the late Lyle and June (Maher) Ganter. He married Nannette C. (Robeff) Helton on May 25, 2015 in Granite City and she survives. He was a journeyman with Anheuser Busch in St. Louis and had worked for Kraft Foods in Granite City with 19 years of service as a palletizer operator. He enjoyed his days of riding motorcycles and loved his Harley Davidson. He was an avid collector of vinyl albums and other antiques. He loved his years living around the Alton area and enjoyed playing golf. He enjoyed life and never met a stranger and cherished his grandchildren. He will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his entire family and many friends. In addition to the love of his life for the past 19 years, Nannette, he is survived by two stepchildren, Jeremy Joseph Helton of Collinsville and Jamie Lee (James) Planitz of Caseyville; nine grandchildren, Jillian, William, Joseph, Kenzie, Payton, June, Brendon, Ashton and Jaxton; two sisters, Mary Ann (Brian) Landreth of Godfrey and Molly (Mike) Price of Brighton; five brothers, James Ganter of Brighton, William Ganter of Alton, John and Jen Ganter of Brighton, Michigan, Charles (Angie) Ganter of Commerce City, Colorado and Christopher (Jenny) Ganter of Jerseyville; three sisters-in-law, Carol (Roger) Boker of Granite City, Linda (Ed) Wichmann of Fenton, Missouri and Stephanie (Scott) Redford of Collinsville; many nieces; nephews; great nieces; great nephews; cousins; other extended family and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and David Ganter; a sister, Carolyn Ganter and a sister-in-law, Susan Ganter. In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Thursday, January 28, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Friday, January 29, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend John Walter officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville. Memorials may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation and may be accepted at the funeral home.
