Godfrey Along With Five Other Fire Departments Battle Massive Blaze Friday Morning

ALTON – Godfrey Fire Department responded to a massive blaze Friday morning at the Hatch & Kirk, Inc building at 4758 Humbert Road.

When firefighters arrived on scene they were met with heavy fire and smoke throughout the business. Godfrey requested five fire departments to help on the scene. Brighton, Fosterburg, Alton, Wood River and Blackjack Missouri responded to the scene. Neighbors said multiple explosions were heard. Smoke could be seen from East Alton.

Madison County Sherriff Department along with Illinois State Police blocked off Humbert Road. Madison County Emergency Management Rehab and Drone Team helped also on scene. Several ambulances were on scene in case they were needed. Bethalto Fire Department manned Godfrey’s Fire Station.

It is unknown at this time on how the fire started or if there were any injuries.
