FOSTERBURG – The Fosterburg Fire Protection District has named Kevin Wallace as the next fire chief. Wallace was appointed January 5th by the Board of Trustees.

Kevin grew up in Fosterburg and joined the Fosterburg Fire Protection District in the summer of 1986 after helping with an incident in Cedarville, Ohio while attending Cedarville College. Once on the department he began training and learning about the fire service.

It was after the WRTH building fire that he knew he wanted a career in the fire service. He obtained his Illinois EMT license and began working for Campbell’s Ambulance (now Lifestar) in Alton. After marrying his wife Tonya in 1989, he moved to Godfrey and joined the Godfrey Fire District.

Continuing his education, he obtained his Illinois and Missouri Paramedic licenses and worked at St. Louis City EMS until being hired by University City Fire Department in St. Louis County in 1991. In 2006, he was promoted to the rank of captain. He retired in December of 2017 after a 27-year career.

He began working for Banner Fire Equipment and joined the Carlinville and Shipman fire departments in 2018. Kevin continues to live in Shipman and is active on both Carlinville and Shipman.

He and his wife Tonya are active members of Fosterburg Baptist Church and are blessed with 3 children, their spouses and seven grandchildren.
