Bethalto Police Department Release Victims Name In Fatal Traffic Crash

BETHALTO – A Bethalto, Illinois man lost his life Friday evening in the two-car traffic crash that occurred in the 900 Block of South Moreland Road has been identified as:

Traveon W. Ward Jr. 22

Male/Black – DOB: 12/03/1999

Bethalto, Illinois

Ward, who is originally from Granite City, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Madison County Coroner’s Office. A married couple from the Hartford, Illinois, area were in the second vehicle involved in the crash and were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. The funeral arrangements remain pending under the direction of Serenity Memorial Chapel in Belleville, Illinois.

Evidence collected in the investigation revealed Mr. Ward was passing several cars at the time of the crash. The Bethalto Police Department request the occupants of any of those cars who didn’t speak with them at the scene to please contact Chief Dixon at 618-377-5266 Ext. 7.
