Several Area Schools Placed At The SIUC Indoor Track Invite

CARBONDALE – Area girls and boys track teams competed in their first track meet Friday and Saturday in the SIUC Indoor Invitation 2022 in Carbondale. 

On the girl’s side of the meet, we had several area girls do well in the meet. Below are the results of the girls’ meet and who placed top ten in their event. 

In the field events, several girls had good results. In Girls Long Jump Granite City’s Alyssa Posten placed 10th with a 4.55 jump. In Girls Shotput Emily Sykes from Granite City threw a 10.86-meter throw to place 3rd And in Girls High Jump Marquette Catholic Grace Sechrect had a jump of 1.52 meters to place 6th. 

In the running events, Alton’s Renee Raglin placed 2nd place with a sprint of 7.96 in the 60-meter dash. In the hurdles Civic Memorials Isabella Dugger placed 2nd with a 10:36. Dugger looks to get back to state after qualifying as a sophomore. 

The 3200 Edwardsville Whitney Dyckman was the only girl to place in the top ten. She had a time of 12.54.50 to make a 6th place finish. Edwardsville’s 4×800 team had a time of 10:46 to place third while Marquette Catholic missed a top 10 finish with a place of 11th place. 

Two area teams placed in the top ten of the 4×200, Edwardsville placed 6th with a time of 1:56.67 while Alton placed 8th with a time of 1:57.93.  Kaitlyn Hatley from Father McGivney placed 3rd with a time of 2:35.25 and Granite City Lauryn Fengoglio placed 6th with a time of 2:41.31

Marquette Catholic Sammy Hentrich was the lone area top 10 finisher in the 200 meters. She placed 6th with a time of 29.14. The area schools were well represented in the 1600 three area girls placed in the top 10. Edwardsville Emily Nuttall placed 3rd and her teammate Riley Knoyle placed 5th. Alton’s Sophie Paschel placed 7th. 

And in the final event, the 4×400 Edwardsville and Alton both placed in the top 10 of that event. Edwardsville placed 6th with a time of 4:33.25 and Alton placed 8th with a time of 4:40.73. 

The boys will start their events on Saturday and we will have the results after the meet is over.
