Police Release Names Of Both Victims And Suspect In Double Homicide

COLLINSVILLE – Madison County Sheriff’s Department released more information about the double homicide on Saturday at a press conference on Sunday.

The two deceased victims were identified as Jamie Joiner age 30 of Collinsville and her sister Jessica Joiner age 34 of California. The suspect was identified as Adam Cobb age 32 of Collinsville.

Multiple officers responded to 1075 McDonough Lake Road, after a 911 call of a disturbance the dispatcher could hear a woman scream and gunshots in the background. When officers arrived on the scene they located the sister outside with apparent gunshot wounds.

Major Jeff Connor of the Madison County Sheriff Department said Adam Cobb had been in a relationship with Jamie Joiner, which they had just broken up. Jessica was from California and had arrived to help move her sister out of the house when the shooting took place.

Police checked the area for the suspect, but it was determined that the suspect fled the scene. An ISPERN was made to help find the suspect. 

On Saturday, April 2, 2022, at approximately 11:14 a.m., the ISP Collinsville Communications Center communicated information via the Illinois State Police Emergency Radio Network (ISPERN) provided by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office concerning a suspect wanted for a double homicide in the Collinsville area. Shortly after 1:00 p.m., local law enforcement located the vehicle northbound on IL Rt. 127 near Hillsboro. A pursuit ensued after officers attempted a traffic stop, which was later joined by ISP Troopers. The pursuit crossed IL Rt. 16 then north onto US Rt. 51.

After becoming partially disabled, the suspect vehicle came to a stop on US Rt. 51 just north of Pana, IL at approximately 1:53 p.m. The driver of the suspect vehicle exited and pointed a firearm in the direction of an ISP Trooper. The ISP Trooper discharged their duty weapon in the direction of the suspect. The suspect was taken to a regional hospital for the treatment of serious, life-threatening injuries. The cause and nature of those injuries is under investigation. No law enforcement officers were injured in this incident.

Cobb died from his injuries at 4:40 a.m. Sunday morning.

The involved ISP Trooper is a 26-year veteran of the Illinois State Police.
