EAWR Girls Basketball Team Advances To The Championship Game With Win Over Roxana

DUPO – The East Alton Wood River Oilers girls basketball team advances to the championship game on Saturday at the Dupo Cat Classic with a 38 to 27 win over cross town rivals Roxana.

The Lady Shells jumped out to a 11 to 6 score after the first quarter. Roxana was able to hold the lead going into halftime with a 21 to 17 lead over the Lady Oilers. In the third quarter the Oilers were able to get on top with a 24 to 23 lead going into the fourth quarter. The Oilers were able to extend the lead and hold it in the fourth quarter there they outscored the Shells 14 to 4 for the win.

EAWR was led by Milla Legette with 9 points followed by Amelia Plumb with 8 points and Kaylynn Buttry with 7 points. The Shells were led by Laynie Gehrs and Daisy Daugherty both with 7 points and Abby Gehrs with 6 points.

EAWR will play Gibault Lady Eagles at 2:30 Saturday in the Championship game. Roxana will play the Metro East Lutheran Lady Knights at 1:00 p.m. for third place.
