Victor Charles Kraushaar

Jerseyville – Victor Charles Kraushaar, age 78 of Jerseyville passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at Saint Louis University Hospital. He was born February 12, 1945, in Jerseyville, the son of Raymond and Mildred Adams Kraushaar.

He married Janet Prough June 28, 1969, at the First Baptist Church in Carrollton and they have spent 53 years together.

He is also survived by two daughters, Nancy (Carl) Clifford of Carrollton, Vickie (Ty) Johnson of Jerseyville, five grandchildren, David (Kristiona), Jeremy (Lindsey), Dylan (Amber) Clifford, Tyler and Carson Johnson, three great grandchildren, Brody, Macie and Brenson Clifford, a brother-in-law, Tom (Linda) Prough, two nephews, Ben and Andy Prough, and his dog, Lucky. He was preceded in death by his parents, in laws, Thomas and Juanita Prough, and a sister-in-law and her husband, Mary Ann and Robert Richey.

He graduated from the Jersey Community High School with the class of 1963. He served in the United States Army serving in the Vietnam War from 1965-1967. He worked at Laclede Steel in Alton for 38 years retiring after it closed in 2001. He loved being outdoors, gardening, watching NASCAR races, and Gunsmoke. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sporting events.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m. Monday, March 13, 2023 at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton with burial to follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the funeral home.
