East Alton With The Help Of Other Fire Departments Battle Fire Monday Night
EAST ALTON – East Alton Fire Department responded to the 400 block of George Street at around 11:30 p.m. Monday night for a back deck on fire.
When firefighters arrived on scene the whole back deck was on fire and it had spread to the back siding of the house. Due to the fire a box-alarm was called and Wood River, Roxana, Alton, and Rosewood Heights Fire Departments responded to the scene. Bethalto Fire Department covered East Alton as they worked the scene.
Firefighters quickly got the fire under control but due to a lot of stuff on the deck it took a little bit to get the fire totally extinguished. Smoke could be seen coming from the house but it is unknown at this time how much damage was done inside. The back siding had melted due to the fire.
No injuries were reported.
