Max Rudolph

Max F. Rudolph, age 82 of Highland, IL, joined his heavenly family and friends on June 3, 2023.  He was born on Sunday, December 8, 1940, in Beckemeyer, IL, the son of Edward and Elizabeth (nee Leslie) Rudolph.  On Saturday, May 30, 1964, he married Marilyn R. (nee Voss) Rudolph at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Carlyle, IL who survives.

He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL; Knights of Columbus Council #1580 and Highland Lion’s Club.

Max attended Beckemeyer Elementary School and graduated from Breese Community High School in 1959.  Upon completing his schooling, he entered the US Army from 1961 to 1963.  He began his career at Shell Oil Company in Wood River, IL as a pipefitter in 1963 and advanced to the Supervisor position, retiring in 2001.  Max met his future love of his life Marilyn and was married on May 30th, 1964, for 59 years.  In June 1965, they were blessed with the birth of their daughter Angie and in March of 1969 their second daughter Kim.  Max enjoyed many years and great friendships with their anniversary group, couples card club, and Wednesday’s golfing buddies.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Highland Lion’s Club. He enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals and the Kansas City Chiefs.  They vacationed in most of the United States, Cancun, Hawaii, Canada, plus the Caribbean Islands.  Many years they wintered a couple of weeks in Florida.  He also enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.

Survivors include: Wife-Marilyn R. (nee Voss) Rudolph, Highland, IL;

Daughters-Angela R. “Angie” (David) Hickman, Shawnee Mission, KS, and Kimberly A. “Kim” (Matt) Lager, Greenville, IL; Grandchildren-Natalie M. (Blake) Henning, Morgan E. Hickman, Gabriel W.E. Lager and Marissa R. Lager; Sister-Betty Ann (Dr. Peter) Wittenberg, Gastonia, NC; and a Brother-James (Helene) Rudolph, Beckemeyer, IL.

He was preceded in death by: Father-Edward Benjamin Rudolph; Mother-Elizabeth “Betty” (nee Leslie) Rudolph; and a Sister-Sandra Mooberry Gebke.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, and from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM on Saturday, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home, Highland, IL.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Saint Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL, with Rev. Fr. Pat G. Jakel, Pastor, officiating. 

Interment will be at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, IL.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Lung Association of Illinois, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
