Person Of Intrest Was Taken Into Custody After Pursuit And Bank Robbery Wednesday Afternoon

ALTON – Madison County Sherriff’s Office and Alton Police Department responded to Carrolton Bank 120 Homer Adams Parkway for a bank robbery Wednesday afternoon.

Officers arrived on the scene quickly and started searching for the suspect. As they were searching a wooded around MLK Parkway a black man fitting the description was seen entering a dark-colored vehicle on Alby and leaving. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle but the vehicle fled the scene.

Officers pursued the vehicle on West Delmar and continued down Highway 109 into Jersey County. With the help of the Jersey County Sheriff’s Department along with Madison County and Alton, a person of interest was taken into custody on Highway 109 and Davidson Road.

No injuries were reported and more information will be released.
