Steve L. Szadai, 84, of Oreana and formerly of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 4:20 a.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2025. He was born June 14, 1940, in Granite City, the son of the late Steve and Thresa (Gecse) Szadai. He married Sandra L. (Kramer) Szadai on June 10, 1961, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granite City and she survives. He proudly served his country with the United States Marine Corps.
He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Decatur, enjoyed his days of hunting and fishing and was a gun enthusiast. He will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends. In addition to his beloved wife of 63 years, he is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Suzanne Szadai of Cerro Gordo, JoAnn and Spencer Flowers of Granite City and Stephanie and Kevin Buckingham of Pontoon Beach; four granddaughters, JessieAnn Flowers, Madelyn Flowers, Courtney Sedlacek and Brittney Buckingham; four great grandchildren, London, Trevion, Truth and T.J; other extended family and friends.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2025, with Father Steve Thompson officiating.
