ALTON — On the evening of Nov. 6, 2025, Eugene Tillman, 64, of Alton, was taken into custody following a single-vehicle crash in the 2500 block of College Avenue that resulted in damage to a building.
At approximately 9:55 p.m. on Thursday, the Alton Police Department was notified that a vehicle had struck the east side of a building located at 2528 College Avenue. Upon arrival, officers confirmed the vehicle had caused damage to the brick exterior. Tillman, the sole occupant and driver, was contacted at the scene.
Police suspected Tillman of driving under the influence and took him into custody. Additionally, officers discovered Tillman had two active warrants for his arrest, including one felony warrant.
The Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office also found him to be noncompliant with the Illinois Sex Offender Registration Act, driving an uninsured vehicle with a suspended registration, and operating the vehicle while his driver’s license was revoked.
The Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office reviewed the case on Friday, Nov. 7, 2025, and charged Tillman with aggravated driving under the influence, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, failure to register as a sex offender, and improper lane usage.
All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
