GRANITE CITY – A Granite City man recently charged with sexually assaulting and abusing a 5-year-old child is currently in custody.
Frank D. Humphreys, 75, of the 1800 block of Bremen Avenue in Granite City, was charged on Dec. 26, 2025 with one count each of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child (a Class X felony) and aggravated criminal sexual abuse (a Class 2 felony).
On Dec. 23, 2025, Humphreys allegedly committed an act of sexual contact against a 5-year-old female victim.
The victim immediately reported the situation to family members, according to a petition to deny pretrial release from custody for Humphreys filed by the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office.
The petition also states Humphreys admitted to police that he committed the sexual act against the victim, and that he “made admissions to his son, saying he was not in his right mind and threatened to kill himself.”
The Granite City Police Department presented the case against Humphreys, who currently remains in custody at the Madison County Jail.
All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
